Insight

Care has moved home. The home is missing three things.

China had 260 million people aged 60 and over in 2021 — 18.7% of the population. By around 2035 that number is projected to reach 418 million, or 29%: roughly one in three people. Ageing is arriving together with a shrinking family structure — in a "4-2-1" household two adults care for four parents and one or two children.

49.7% empty nests

When children live elsewhere, hours alone grow long. One fall, one forgotten gas ring, can turn into an accident nobody can undo.

Two-thirds live with illness

For Chinese adults over 60, two-thirds of remaining life is spent managing illness. Chronic care needs continuous data — not one annual check-up.

Dependency ratio at 19.74%

The old-age dependency ratio rose from 7.98% in 1982 to 19.74% in 2020. Caregivers are a hard constraint — tools and process have to close the gap.

A market that doubled in five years

The smart eldercare market grew from RMB 260.85 billion in 2016 to RMB 514.47 billion in 2020. Policy has followed: the 2020 State Council opinion on eldercare and childcare services set out a "care for all older people" system, and the 2021 CPC Central Committee and State Council opinion on ageing called for "internet plus care services".

The 9073 split means retrofitting existing homes matters more than building new facilities

90% of older people age at home, 7% rely on community services and 3% move into institutions. Institutions serve the minority with severe needs; the vast majority will grow old in their own flats. The problem is that Chinese homes were never designed for later life — switches sit too high, curtains need a stool, the gas ring gets left on, and there is no light when getting up at night.

Conventional retrofit means chasing walls and pulling cable: weeks per flat, high cost, and plenty of disruption older residents resist. MoiFee takes another route — wireless, self-forming devices that deliver ageing-in-place upgrades without touching the existing decoration, typically within hours.

Solution

Three layers that turn a home into a place that cares

Sense, connect, respond. What home care lacks was never another device — it is a complete chain. MoiFee builds the first two layers: hardware in the room, the platform in the cloud; the response layer belongs to our partners.

  1. 01

Device layer · sensing and acting

Switches, sensors, curtains, drying racks, locks and health devices form a Zigbee 3.0 / Wi-Fi mesh. Single-live-wire power means no neutral and no signal cable — older flats can be upgraded directly.

    • Single-live-wire
    • Zigbee 3.0
    • Wi-Fi direct
    • Works offline
  2. 02

Platform layer · connecting and dispatching

The cloud platform keeps a record for every resident, gathering device status, health data, service orders and care notes, with tiered access for family, community workers, providers and regulators.

    • Resident records
    • Device status
    • Health data
    • Order dispatch
    • Care notes
    • Time banking
  3. 03

    Service layer · third-party response

Alerts are pushed in real time to partner call centres and care providers; third-party teams verify, dispatch and visit. Outcomes flow back to the platform, leaving a trail anyone can audit.

    • Alert push
    • Order routing
    • Auditable records
    • Tiered notices

Four core platform functions

Family at the centre, community as the base — professional care delivered to the bedside.

One-touch SOS

Button, pull cord or wristband — any trigger pushes an alert to the third-party call centre and notifies family and the local grid worker at once.

Device status

Door contacts, smoke, water-leak, gas and presence sensors report status and alarms; exceptions are pushed automatically.

Health record

Blood pressure, oxygen and sleep upload continuously into trend curves; outliers are flagged for the family doctor.

Care notes

Every visit logs time, service items, staff and family confirmation — exportable for providers and inspectors.

Products

Three small things that solve the three hardest retrofit problems

An old flat that cannot be rewired, a resident who will not change the faceplates, and a button nobody can find in an emergency — our three flagship products are designed for exactly those three moments.

M2 series smart switch installed on a bedroom wall

M2 series

Single-live / neutral universal switch

Patented single-live/neutral auto-detection means a clean swap in new builds and retrofits alike. Where the wall box has a live wire only, it still replaces the ordinary switch directly.

  • Wi-Fi and Zigbee dual protocol, relay or silent version
  • Moonlight-white faceplate in 1, 2 or 3 gangs, touch and dimming
  • No neutral, no extra wiring — replace in place
A wall switch beside an entrance door

C3 series

Universal-fit switch module

Freshly decorated, with faceplates bought to match the interior — swapping them for smart panels would ruin the look. C3 simply joins the circuit inside the 86 box and leaves the faceplate alone.

  • Keeps the existing faceplate; less time and cost
  • Wi-Fi, Zigbee and Tmall Genie Wi-Fi versions
  • 100,000 press cycles, tested at 80 °C and −39.95 °C; CE marked and utility-model patented
A K3 button stuck to a door

K3 series

Six-in-one button

A small button that sticks anywhere and reads single, double and long presses. By the bed it is an emergency call; by the door it sets the home scene; carried in a pocket it is a help bell.

  • Doorbell, switch control, music, scene trigger
  • USB-C charged, no wiring or battery swaps; 1–2 years per charge
  • About 50 m through interior walls, 120 m in the open, 80 m mesh range

Retrofit

Room by room, habit by habit

Ageing-in-place is not about turning a home into a ward. Good retrofit makes the effortful, the risky and the forgettable simply stop being any of those things.

An older person arriving at the door carrying shopping

Entrance

Hands full, lights come on anyway

A door contact sees you in and brings up the hallway and living-room lights; one press sets "home". Leaving runs the reverse — non-essential appliances off on the way out.

An older woman stretching by the window as curtains open

Bedroom

Curtains open without getting up

High-strength track, quiet running, scheduled opening that mimics sunrise — and it can still be pulled by hand in a power cut, so control stays with the resident.

A smart lift drying rack on a balcony

Balcony

No more reaching overhead to hang laundry

Electric lift replaces the hand crank, with timed air-drying, UV sterilising and LED light — cutting out the overhead reaching, tip-toeing and bending that cause falls.

Pots on a kitchen hob

Kitchen

If the ring is left on, it warns first, then cuts

Gas leaks trigger a sound-and-light alarm and a phone alert; paired with a water-leak sensor the valve closes too — keeping the cost of a forgotten ring as low as possible.

Close-up of pipework and a valve

Bathroom / pipework

Leaks reported the moment they start

A leak sensor sits low; on standing water it closes the valve and alerts family and building management together, before floors and neighbours suffer.

A carer visiting an older person at home

Whole home

If nothing moves for hours, someone knocks

Presence sensors detect stillness, not just motion; beyond a set period an alert fires. If calls go unanswered, the platform hands the case to a partner care provider for an in-person check.

Alert response

Devices do the sensing; professionals do the responding

MoiFee is a device and platform provider. Hardware spots the risk; the cloud platform delivers the alert, in real time and in full, to whoever is responsible for responding. Third-party call centres and care providers answer, dispatch and visit — and outcomes flow back to the platform as records.

Where an alert goes

From trigger to doorstep, the platform does one thing: deliver the alert accurately to the third party responsible for responding, with a record at every step.

  1. AlertSmoke, gas, water or button triggers reach the cloud within seconds
  2. PushThe platform pushes to the partner call centre or provider and notifies family in parallel
  3. RespondThe third-party team verifies, dispatches and sends the nearest person
  4. CloseOutcomes return to the platform and a service record is created

Delivered to operators

We hand devices, platform and open interfaces to call centres, community stations and care providers — the operator organises answering, dispatch and home visits for residents.

Every step recorded and checkable

Third-party response records flow back to the platform, where family and regulators can verify them at any time — no invisible service, no blurred responsibility.

Beyond the platform, the service ecosystem keeps growing

The same alert and order interfaces open to housekeeping, repair, medical and daily-living providers. Partners deliver the services; MoiFee routes the requests and keeps the records.

Housekeeping

Cleaning and tidying at home, cutting the bending and climbing that cause falls.

Repairs

Lights, air-conditioning, plumbing — one press, routed to a vetted partner technician.

Family doctor

A one-press call, and a partner doctor visits with the platform health record in hand.

Daily supplies

Press the button and say "out of rice" — a partner local provider delivers.

Case study

Guangzhou home care beds

In June 2021 the Guangzhou Civil Affairs Bureau and Finance Bureau issued a joint notice on building and servicing home care beds, open to residents with partial or full loss of capacity. MoiFee takes part with devices and platform; the operator is responsible for alarm response.

About MoiFee

A smart-home company of ten years — and why we turned to eldercare

Shenzhen MoiFee IoT Technology was founded in Shenzhen. A decade of engineering has built a strong R&D and design team, working on stable cross-platform, multi-protocol smart-home interoperability and putting it to work in four real settings: eldercare, homes, offices and hotels.

The move into eldercare started simply. We fitted smart switches in a client's flat, and his eighty-year-old mother stopped fumbling for a switch in the dark. That was the moment we saw that the value of a smart home is not that it is clever, but that an older person can use it.

That became MoiFee Smart Home Care: built around simple use, simple maintenance and simple support, with devices that are safe, efficient and genuinely usable by older people.
